Shakedown Co-Driver Experience Programme Coming to Rally Japan

The FIA World Rally Championship FORUM8 Rally Japan 2024 has organised a special shakedown for Thursday 21 November, the first day of the event, where participants will have the opportunity to ride in the rally cars of the top category drivers.

This project invites those who have purchased a spectator ticket for the Toyota Stadium SSS Category 1 or Kuragaike Park Shakedown by Monday 23 September to apply for the co-driver special experience. This is the first time that the World Rally Championship is inviting applications from the general public to participate in the experience of riding in a top driver’s rally car.

FORUM8 Rally Japan 2024 Co-Driver Special Experience

Overview

■ Date and time.
Thursday 21 November 2024, around 7:00 – 14:00

■ Contents
– Co-driver experience at the Kuragaike Park Shakedown.
– The co-driver will ride in the car of a top category competitor driving in the Shakedown (team and driver to be confirmed).
– The co-drivers will be interviewed by the media before and after the experience.

Application Overview

■ Eligibility for application
Those who have purchased tickets to the Toyota Stadium SSS Category 1 or Kuragaike Park Shakedown by Monday 23 September 2024 (only those who have completed payment).

■ Number of winners
1 winner *The winner will only be notified by phone by Tuesday 22 October.

■ Application conditions

All of the following conditions must be met

(i) 18 years of age or older (excluding high school students) and under 65 years of age.
(ii) Be in good physical and mental health *1
(iii) Height: 140cm or more but less than 190cm *2
(iv) Be able to be interviewed by the media before and after the experience, and agree to allow the Rally Japan Secretariat and the media to use the video footage (in-car footage) of the experience.

*1 The following persons are not eligible for the experience.
People with spine, neck, leg, hip or chest ailmants, people at risk of fragility fractures such as low bone mass or osteoporosis, people with fractures, people in casts, people wearing unfixed aids or artificial organs (medical devices), people with heart disease, people with low or high blood pressure, people with cerebrovascular or cerebral nervous system disorders. Those with diabetes, circulatory system abnormalities, pregnant women, those who have been drinking, those who are in poor physical condition, those who are deemed unsuitable by the FIA/WRC Promoter Rally Japan Office, and those who have other conditions that may worsen.

*2 Those who are unable to maintain a correct riding posture, or who are or may be unable to sit in a seat or wear a seatbelt or helmet properly due to their body shape or other physical characteristics, may be asked to refrain from entry even if they meet the entry conditions.
