An exhibition in memory of Kenjiro Shinozuka, who passed away on 18 March 2024, has been set up inside Toyota Stadium.
Kenjiro Shinozuka joined Mitsubishi Motors in 1971 and, while working for the company as a company driver, he began competing in overseas rallies from 1974. From 1986, he began competing in the Paris-Dakar Rally , and in 1997 he became the first Japanese driver to win the overall championship. In the WRC, he won the Ivory Coast Rally (Cote d’Ivoire) in 1991 and 1992 with the Galant VR-4.
He showed his vitality by acting as a driver in the demonstration run at Rally Japan 2023 last year, but he passed away on Thursday, 18th March 2024 at the age of 75.
